In Team Tui we made explanation writing for this weeks learning. The prompt had to start with a how or why, so i chose “why is it important to learn how to swim” as you can see i used the why prompt. I wrote 2 slides filled with information on the advantages of swimming.
That Was Matariki
That was matariki
Have you ever seen matariki?
Sure you have!
Remember the time 9 stars shining brighter than the others. Fireworks shooting up and exploding in the black sky. Kids running around in the muddy grass.

Goldie-Bear And The Three Humans
Goldie-Bear And The Three Humans
Once upon a time there was a bear named Goldie-Bear. He went hunting in the forest and pretty soon he saw a hut. As he walked back, he thought to himself, “why would that be there?”.
The next morning Goldie-Bear woke and set out on an adventure to find out what that hut was for. He walked and walked until he found the hut again. He burst in .. no one was home!
Goldie-Bear wandered around the hut. At the kitchen table there were three bowls of porridge.Goldie-Bear was hungry.
He tasted the porridge in the first bowl.“This porridge is too HOT,” he exclaimed. So he tried the second bowl “This is too COLD!!” He shouted. Finally he saw a small bowl! “This is just right!” Goldie-Bear said as he gobbled up the porridge.
But what was happening while he was sucking up the porridge? The three humans who lived in the hut were walking back from the city. It was a long walk, so no need to worry right?
After he finished eating he was tired from hunting yesterday so he went to find a resting area and he saw three chairs.
Goldie-bear sat on the first chair “Well this is too HARD!” He screamed. As he sat on the next chair, the human family was just getting closer and closer. When his butt finally reached the chair, he exclaimed, “This is too SOFT!” as he sunk in the chair.
He ran to the next chair hoping it would be just right … and, well guess what, “This is just right!!” he said.
Goldie-Bear was getting tired so we went to find the bedroom. When he saw the first bed he just knew it was too big so he skipped that. When he felt the second bed he said “This bed is too stiff!”. He sighed and went to the next bed and flopped down on it and, guess what, he started snoring!
Soon after the Human family came back full of treasures. But soon they started screaming. “Who ate my porridge?” shouted Daddy Human. They started accusing each other but little did they know there was a little bear in the house.
“Somebody has been lying in my bed!” said the great, huge daddy Human, in his great, rough, gruff voice.
“Somebody has been lying in my bed!” said the Mummy human, in her middle voice.
And when the little, small, wee human came to look at his bed, upon the pillow there was a pool of brown fur, and the face of a little bear snoring away, fast asleep.
“Somebody has been lying in my bed, and here he is!” said the little, small wee human, in his little, small wee voice.
Goldie-bear jumped off the bed, ran downstairs, out of the door and down the garden path. He ran and he ran until he reached the house of her grandmama. When he told his grandmama about the house of the three humans who lived in the woods, his granny said: “My my, what a wild imagination you have, child!”
